Definitions:

‘The choir’ means Palace Acappella Choir.

‘Member’ means you, the choir member.

‘MD’ means Musical Director.

A ‘choir month’ runs from the 1st of the upcoming month to the last day of that month

 

1 – Membership begins when the member has both signed this agreement and activated their direct debit via our secure online payment system. A confirmation email will be sent as soon as possible. Payment is taken in advance on the 1st day of each month. If it is not possible to pay by direct debit alternative options may be explored at the discretion of the MD. 

 

2 – If the member wishes to cancel their membership they may do so by giving the appropriate notice as follows:

 

1. No notice is required during the first month of membership, however no refunds will be given.

2. After one full month, one ‘choir month’ notice in writing to Palace Acappella Choir.

3. After two full months, two ‘choir months’ notice in writing to Palace Acappella Choir. 

 

3 – Palace Acappella Choir holds the right to terminate membership for any kind of breach of membership conditions.

 

4 – Choir membership entitles members access to all choir rehearsals, online and/or face to face, social activities and performances as decided by the MD. Where there are extra costs, charges or expenses related to performances or social activities these are to be borne by the member. Additional workshops, courses and projects run by the MD which incur further costs are optional, and will be charged separately for those wishing to take part.

 

5 - Choir members must join the WhatsApp Announcement group; the WhatsApp chat group is optional. If this is not possible, alternative arrangements can be explored at the discretion of the MD. 

 

6 – Members must be able to sing at the standard set by the MD who has the right to withdraw membership at any time.

 

7 - Members agree to audition at any time if asked by the MD.

 

8 – The MD holds the right to change the rehearsal venue, times and days if necessary, but will not do so without good reason and will endeavour to give as much notice as possible. 

 

9 - Should the MD be indisposed for whatever reason, they have the right to
i) find a suitable deputy to cover their absence
ii) reschedule the rehearsal or performance for an alternative date
iii) add or extend any rehearsal(s) at their discretion
iv) cancel the rehearsal or performance.

 

10 - If changes need to be made to the schedule due to force majeure we will strive to hold alternative rehearsals. 

 

11 – The member’s property is their responsibility whilst at rehearsals and performances.  Palace Acappella Choir is not responsible for any losses or damage.

 

12 – By becoming a member, you have given your permission for photographs and recordings to be taken and used as the choir wishes for media and promotional purposes.

 

13– Sheet music use:

1. Any music supplied to a member is only permitted to be used within Palace Acappella Choir and while a member, unless with the express written permission of the MD

2. Any arrangements supplied to the member which have been written by the MD remain the property of the MD, and the copyright thereof, and may not be used outside of Palace Acappella at any time, except with the express written permission of the MD.

 

14 – Eligibility to perform - if a member intends to take part in any performance they must have attended enough rehearsals and done their own work separately to be at a standard that is competent, as well as attended any obligatory rehearsals. This is at the sole discretion of the MD.

 

15 – If a member has signed up to sing at an event they must attend unless they have good reason not to. It is essential members keep the MD informed and give as much notice as possible for absence.

 

16 – Palace Acappella Choir T-shirts, folders and matching colours (purple, pink, blue, black, white) are to be used for all performances and arranged photo opportunities unless otherwise stated. Clothing, folders and other accessories acquired for choir use are bought at the member’s expense.

 

17 - the MD has the right to prohibit members performing if venue space limit necessitates or a smaller group is required.

 

18 – The Choir will not share any personal details with a third party without direct permission from the member. See the choir Privacy Notice for full details. 

 

19 – The member is expected to make the choir aware of any changes to their personal details that may affect their membership.

 

20 - If a member has any condition, allergy etc which could affect their membership or singing in the choir it is essential they advise the MD as soon as possible.

 

21 – It is the member’s responsibility to ensure that they are behaving in a morally acceptable fashion at all times. Palace Acappella Choir strives to foster an environment of positivity, inclusivity and respect, and thus any behaviour that may infringe upon others’ rights, or cause distress will not be tolerated.

 

 

Membership from January 2025:

 

Membership fee - £40, includes complimentary choir T-shirt

Monthly subscription - £30/month, payable on the 1st of each month

Resources pack - £15 every 6 months, includes access to printed sheet music and rehearsal tracks

 

Any changes to this Agreement, including membership fees, will be notified at least 2 months in advance.
